Etiquette
and use of Buggies
Our environment is tremendously important
to us here at Castletown Golf Links. The Langness peninsula is the
subject of an ASSI order and we would therefore ask that all buggy
users adhere to our guidelines, thus demonstrating how golfers and
wildlife can live in harmony.
- Where-ever possible follow
paths or other routes that are indicated.
- Please do not drive though the tall rough grasses. Especially
between the 12th and 14th. (Nesting Skylarks).
- Do not take
caddy cars or buggies onto tees or green aprons.
- Please drive
carefully and at a reasonable speed and consider other golfers.
- Only two persons to ride on a vehicle and only two sets of clubs
to be carried.
- Not to be used by any person under the age
of 16.
- Apply brake when leaving the vehicle.
- Do not try to drive
buggies through wet areas - they will sink, and the passengers
may well be attacked by alligators.
(Ha Ha just
making sure you have read all the rules). If the
course is extremely wet then please drive in the semi rough rather
than on the fairway.
- Visitors may use single seat
type buggies providing they obtain permission from the golf director
in
advance. On the
grounds
of age or disability. They must also provide insurance
documents.
- Observe club regulations and local
rules.
POINTS FOR MEMBERS
- Firstly a member has to
apply to the owner for permission to use a buggy (including the
single seat type) this must also be accompanied by a medical certificate.
Only a certain number of buggies (10) are permitted on Castletown
Golf Links, as we do not have designated buggy paths throughout
the course.
- On receiving permission from the owner, the Club
committee must be informed, as the club does not allow a member
to play in
club competitions without permission.
- All buggies must be
well maintained, free from oil and fuel leaks. If a buggy is
no longer used it must be removed from the
car park at the earliest opportunity.
- The member should
fit the buggy with identification of ownership.
- Each member
agrees to abide by these rules and must accept that at certain
times the use of buggies will be prohibited.
- All users must
produce a certificate of insurance to cover not only theft but
also liability when used on the
course.
