Etiquette
The Rules of Golf are well documented and precise.
Dictionary: Etiquette: “The conventional rules of social behaviour” “The
customary behaviour of members of a profession/organisation towards
each other and the "unwritten" rules which govern behaviour
on the Course. These are designed to increase the enjoyment of all
and are based on courtesy and consideration for others and for the
Course.
- Be ready to play at your starting time.
- Announce which ball you are playing - a personal identification
mark is recommended.
- Watch the balls in flight to avoid wasting time in searching.
- Five minutes are allowed to search for a ball. This does
not mean you may hold up those behind you for five minutes.
If the
ball is
not immediately found and if the hole ahead is clear,
allow those behind
to play through.
- Do not drive while players are chipping or putting
on an adjacent green.
- Replace divots; repair plugmarks; rake bunkers and
leave the rake in the middle of the bunker.
- Remember that conversation and sudden noise are
distracting and avoid disturbing those who are
playing shots.
- In stableford or par competitions, it is recommended
that you pick up when either zero points or a
loss has been recorded
on
a hole.
- Use the waste bins on the course.
- Players losing one clear hole must give way
to players following.
- Each player must have his own set of
clubs, proper golf footwear
Dress Code
Smart golfing attire i.e. Collared shirts, tailored slacks and
shorts. Smart casual wear is acceptable around the hotel bars
and restaurants.
